Stock the Clinic

Jigsaw is in the house!‍ ‍Ridgeview Direct Primary Care’s facelift is officially (well, ok - mostly) complete. We’ve moved in and are settling the space. We’re awaiting inspection and the official clearance to start operating, so there will be a couple weeks of downtime to get everything just right before folks walk in the door. And in that time, Jigsaw could use a hand - YOUR hand.

The next sentence is something we all already know, but I’m saying it anyway. Starting a business is by no means inexpensive. I’m funding this all myself - there is no business loan from a bank, and there is no lien on our family home (thank God). It’s simply money I saved that’s now in a bank account under a different name, mixed with astute commitment to detailed financial planning and small-bite business development plans.

While rent is by far the biggest ongoing cost of a PT clinic (as a service profession, our brains and our hands are the “product” clients are seeking), the start-up costs of stocking a clinic are quite steep. I started making an Amazon list of all things JHT needs to fill this space and serve folks well, and looking at each item nothing seemed insanely expensive (most around $30 a pop), but all together this stuff adds.

Instead of my experiencing my typical anxiety and fear, I looked at the cart total and a thought of peace and safety came to me. What if there’s a set of communal bookends of sorts in this story? What if, just like in 2021 when I stepped off the frontline and leaned into community to sustain me, I am again being called to lean into community to buttress me as I step in to this new work I am being called to?
